UNFFT Tibetans Empowerment library in Nepal
we asked your opinion about starting a non official library in Nepal for Tibetans with books which are educational and your enthusiastic response was truly heartwarming: you said yes yes yes, we love this idea, please tell where to send the books to*.
What we, Tibet supporters, can do is collect a few books from our own library, and send them via airmail (a bit expensive perhaps) or with sea cargo if there are many books. We can send just one or two books (if the freight is too expensive) but even one or two books, when 1000 supporters do that, shall make 1000 or 2000, a great start for the library.
Because we are all volunteers, we do not have money to give you for the sending costs, so we alas must ask you to cover the sending by yourself.
The library we are setting up shall be mainly second hand books but in very good condition of course. Some suggestions here:
4. language learning (any language, the more the better)
5. how to make things (craft books)
6. growing vegetables/eco gardening/self sustainability etc
7. auto biographies
9 .children books
10. books about different political systems, such as democracy and communism. This subject is taught at schools in nepal under political science
The library is handled by the Special Nepal Task Force, (a team of 12 Tibetans) and is meant to help Tibetans in Nepal to read about things they are interested in but hardly have the chance finding information about.
The more knowledge we share, the better chance Tibetans in settlements have to get better education (attend schools and colleges etc) and jobs.
The address below is the correct address to send the books to:
Sonam Dhondup ( Teacher)
Nepal Buddhist Mahayana Center
Shall we start today, look in our books, put a few together and send to Nepal? it is a lovely task, positive and wont bring any harm to anyone.
please post your ideas here and also, when you have sent books sothat we can keep track of things.
